This year for Children’s mental health week we are focusing on helping children manage their feelings so they don’t become overwhelmed by them.

We are using our stress bucket and elves to help explain this. We ALL have a stress bucket, both children and big people. .

We want to make this material available to as many children as possible, so please do watch the video below and download the relevant materials (see below)

We cannot prevent life events happening to our children but we can equip them as much as possible to cope with these events.

Things in life can fill up our stress buckets, leading to us feeling full and overwhelmed. However we do have a tap on our stress buckets which we can open to lower the levels in our stress bucket.

Our Managing Stress Children’s Mental Health 2024 video:

Play the Managing Stress game to reinforce the information discussed in the video.

For full instructions on the game please see the relevant guide (parents / teachers or leaders) as there are slightly different options available depending on the number of children present / resources.

For Parents / Carers:

Please have a look at the parent guide. Watch the video above, play the game and have a discussion with your child at home. You can print off the worksheet, complete it together and leave it on your fridge. Remember we all parent better if our stress buckets aren’t full, so do think about what opens your tap as well.

For Teachers:

If you are a teacher please download our Teachers pack below and run the activity within your school. Please do consider if you could have a non school uniform day to help support us.

If you are a school or nursery and you already have some internal activites planned, please do consider if you send out our flier to your parents (see below)

For Group leaders:

If you run a Brownies, Cubs, Beavers, Boys Brigade, Girls Brigade or after school club here is some information for you to run the session with the children who attend.

If you find this information helpful, and we do hope you do. Please let us know info@standinginthegap.uk and consider making a donation to help us in this really vital work.
